Sue recently went back to revisit some of her favourite spots in Brazil with her teenage son Dylan. Having grown up in Rio she thought there was very little left that she could learn about Rio, however a Favela tour really opened their eyes to this fascinating part of the city and culture that most people are not aware of.
After a few nights at her favourite hotel in the Rio the Belmond Copacabana Palace they headed up to the charming village of Trancoso in the North East of Brazil. This boho chic village is centred around a main square – the Quadrado – which is surrounded by multicoloured houses previously belonging to local fisherman. You won’t find any fast cars or loud music here! It’s a place to relax and soak up the vibes in the UNESCO protected square. In the evenings the square is mainly lit by candles which makes it feel quite magical. Today they have been transformed into chic boutiques and guesthouses. Wilbert Das, Creative Director of Diesel owns THE place to stay in Trancoso – Uxua Casa – a real home from home.
